Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Lou & Grey for the first time and attend their book reading event with author of the book Breaking Vegan, Jordan Younger, wellness blogger of The Balanced Blonde.
Jordan’s journey has been interesting. I first saw her at an event last year and was introduced to her story. In her new book, she opens up about her obsession with healthy eating, becoming vegan and eventually being diagnosed with orthorexia, a condition where one becomes obsessed with eating foods they consider healthy.
Through her story, she shares how you should listen to your body, which she did so herself and eventually broke away from being a vegan.
It’s incredible hearing about the backlash she received, to this day, for being honest and true to her followers when she came out with her decision to not be a vegan anymore. As much as she received negative comments, she also gained a lot of love and appraisal for her honesty and openness.
At the end of the day, (and I’ve said this in an earlier post), health is wealth, and without it we cannot get anywhere. We all function differently, and whilst eating a certain way works well with one person, it may not be the same for another. Jordan tried one way she thought would help her become more healthy, and when that led to her diagnosis, she did what she needed to do that’s best for her health.
I look very much forward to reading this book and trying out some of the tasty looking recipes she has included.
I was happy to also check out Lou & Grey. They are a clothing brand designed for women who don’t want to pick between comfort and style (it’s like they granted my wishes!). I am definitely an advocate for being comfortable in what you wear. As described on their website, Lou & Grey are ‘an edited line of easy, texture-rich essentials for every day.’
Personally, what I wear is determined by my mood that day. And nothing effects my mood more than being uncomfortable in what I’m wearing. Yes, I’m a stylist, and love love love to help and advise others on what to wear, however when it comes to my self, I rarely plan in advance. There’s always a high chance I may change my mind that day! So filling my wardrobe with pieces I know will always make me feel comfortable, yet are stylish, are perfect for effortless chic.
The shop is very elegant, with a clean and fresh space, just as you would imagine for a comfort oriented clothing store. I look forward to returning and browsing for some new additions to my wardrobe. I especially love the pieces with peach colored accents going on, a great color for the spring season.
You can find their store in Old Town Pasadena at: 110 W Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105
